Our Hero is a lefty and uses brass knuckles. The fist is not a very powerful weapon. Though it never runs out of "shots", its low damage, slow rate of fire and the need to get right next to your target make the fist an almost useless weapon against all but the weakest of enemies.
About the only enemy you can safely kill with the fist is a Keen.
The fist is replaced by the Chainsaw as Weapon #1.

Obtained by finding the Berserk Box. The Berserk Fist gives you a punch with half the force of a direct hit from a rocket. It is not uncommon to gib smaller enemies. See Berserk Box for more information on the Berserk Fist.
The Berserk Fist can be invoked by the (*SPOILER*) cheat code: idchoppers
With the Berserk Fist you can toggle between the Berserk Fist and the Chainsaw.

The chainsaw (my personal favorite weapon, btw) will grab onto an enemy and rip its guts out while preventing it from escaping.
I haven't managed to get an exact damage rating for this weapon. The 50 points per second is an average based on numerous tests.
