NOTES: The pistol is your default weapon. After you die all you will have is a fist, a pistol with 50 rounds and 100% health. Good luck! I like to use the pistol to kill lone Cacodemons.

NOTES: The shotgun fires seven "pellets" per round, each as strong as a bullet. The pellets spread apart horizontally with distance, decreasing the number of shells that will hit a target. Because if this the shotgun is best suited for close combat situations. Shotguns are "dropped" by Former Human Sergeants when killed.

NOTES: The Combat Shotgun (also called The Double-Barrelled Shotgun) fires 21 shells in a conical spread, consuming 2 shells per shot. Whereas the ammo consumption is higher, the fire rate lower and the spread more pronounced, you get 21 pellets worth of pain for the cost of 14. Not a bad trade. The Combat Shotgun excels in close combat and is the ultimate tunnel rat weapon. More powerful than a Rocket Launcher at point-blank range, this weapon can drop a Demon in one shot. In long range combat the Combat Shotgun is next to useless. The Combat Shotgun and the Shotgun toggle as Weapon #3. The only new weapon in DOOM 2

NOTES: While not really a "chaingun" (it's a gattling gun, but who cares?), this fun weapon eats a tremendous amount of ammunition as it sprays lead death at your targets. The combination of the high rate of fire and the low lethality level of each shot causes your enemies to do the "Chaingun Cha-Cha", rapidly alternating between their flinched state and their angry state. While fun to watch it does deplete your ammo quickly. The Chaingun works very well against shooting monsters and monsters at a distance. Former Human Commandos drop half-empty (½ the regularly included ammo) when killed. What is a Hitscan Weapon?: In DOOM parlance (and in Quake) a "hitscan" weapon in any distance weapon that effects its target at the same time the weapon is activated. In DOOM all "hitscan" weapons fire "bullets". These bullets strike the target instantly. Hitscan simply means that the DOOM engine scans the target area for "victims" and injures them according to the rules setup for each hitscan weapon.
